Almost everyone has an object that is dear to their heart. It does not have to be a jewel in the usual sense. Often the thing that is most precious to one person will look like a simple trinket of no value to many others.

The paradox of this phenomenon is that what people most often value are memories of something kind and good, of the happy moments in their lives — not material goods.

In a short film, my friends and close ones talk about their favorite objects, while more fanciful items that appeal to me are depicted on the crystal vessels. Since childhood I have loved fairy tales.

One of my favorite fairy-tale authors is Evgeny Klyuev, who wrote the book The Terribly Squeaky Door and Other People. His work is a collection of stories about ordinary, at first glance unremarkable and familiar things that begin to feel the most magical and wondrous as soon as they become necessary to a person.

That made a strong impression on me and led me to think about how closely fairy tale and reality are intertwined.

For that reason I especially wanted to create a small world that gives the sense of a gentle transition from reality into the realm of fairy tale.
