The project “Goluboy Ogonyok” is a reflection on the transformation of New Year’s as a holiday and on how, over time, it has come to occupy a special place in culture, in many ways replacing Christmas traditions for many people.

At the core of the project is a total installation of a Soviet apartment—a modest, recognizable space filled with everyday objects and the atmosphere of a classic family celebration.

It was important for me to show that behind familiar New Year rituals, something more has been preserved—a sense of wonder, hope, and belief in a better future.

This is why, within an ordinary apartment, strange mythical creatures appear, as if materialized from memories, childhood fantasies, and the festive mood. They exist alongside people, filling the space with a hidden magic.

The central image of the project is Soviet crystal, which unexpectedly comes to life. Vases, glasses, and candy bowls grow little legs, tails, wings, and distinct personalities, transforming into fairy-tale inhabitants of this world.

Together with other fantastical creatures, they celebrate their own holiday within the familiar interior, reminding us that even in the most ordinary reality, there is always room for magic.
